Nebraska Rep presents Bertolt Brecht's classic 'Mother Courage'

Lincoln, Neb.--The Nebraska Repertory Theatre, Nebraska’s Actors’ Equity Association professional regional theatre, continues its 50th Anniversary year season Nov. 7-8 with two preview performances of a new adaptation of the classic "Mother Courage" by Bertolt Brecht, with music by Scott Lamps, book and lyrics by Andy Park, from the translation by William Grange. Opening night of this world premiere is Friday, Nov. 9 with additional performances November 12-16 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 11 & 18 at 2 p.m. at the Temple Building, 12th & R streets.

Follow the fortunes of Mother Courage and her three children as they strive to make a living during the madness of war. In this new adaptation of the classic play, the drama unfolds during the height of the American Civil War. While Mother Courage profits from the spoils of war, she faces the ultimate sacrifice in this epic masterpiece of struggle and survival.

The production is directed by Andy Park, Nebraska Rep’s Artistic Director. Guest artist Tobi Mattingly is director of music.

Moira Mangiameli plays Mother Courage. Actors’ Equity Association guest artists are Joe Moser (General McClellan), Mike Nappi (Eli), Tom Quinn (Chaplain), Don Richard (Cook), and Richard Stillman (Sargeant). Jeremy Blomstedt is the Recruiting Officer. Student cast members include Emily Blythe (Kattrin), Jesse Turos (Swiss Cheese), Hannah Ramsgard (Yvette), Travis Banks (Farmer), Karen Richards (Farmer’s Wife), Je’Qwan Owens (Farmer’s Brother), and Cameron Currie (Young Soldier). Student cast members playing multiple roles are Emmalee Allen, Simon Gissler, Cullen Wiley, Japrice Green and Aguel Lual.

Assistant director is Conner Striebel. Scenic design is by Brenda Davis with lighting design by Bryce Bassett. Costume design is by Heather Striebel and sound design is by Araceli Ramirez. Technical Director is Michael Strickland. The production is stage managed by Shannon Humiston with production stage management by Brad Buffum.
