Lincoln, Neb.--Registration for the seventh annual Future Husker University on July 12 is now open.

Future Husker University, hosted by the Nebraska Alumni Association, is an immersive and interactive Husker experience on campus for any future Husker, ages 7-13, and their families. The Nebraska Alumni Association has welcomed Nebraska alumni and fans through this experience since 2018.

Participants will take part in classroom activities led by the university’s departments, eat in a student dining hall, tour campus landmarks, and more. At the end of experience, the participants will conclude with a graduation ceremony. They will also have the opportunity of staying in a residence hall overnight for an authentic student experience on July 12.

The costs for adults to attend the event are $50 for Nebraska Alumni Association members and $80 for non-members. Children are $50 each. The registration fee covers lunch, parking, class courses, swag and snacks on July 12. The residence hall and Thursday activities have additional costs.

The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts is offering two classes at Future Husker University:

• Printmaking Portraits taught by Assistant Professor of Practice in Graphic Design Jen Landis. Explore the world of printmaking. We’ll help you create your own artwork and put faces on paper with colorful inks. You’ll take home a great keepsake of your day on campus. Landis loves encouraging young artists to explore new ways to express themselves and gain confidence through art. She is the also the creative director and owner of Pincurl Girls, a company that inspires young girls to believe in and love themselves.

• How to Tell a Story taught by Assistant Professor of Lighting Michelle Harvey. If you’ve been in a school or church play, you’ve probably followed a script. But in this class, we’ll make up a story as we go and improvise – or “improv” - using prompts, props, and lighting to tell a story on stage. Harvey came back to Nebraska in 2020 from Kansas City Repertory Theatre where she helped bring many plays to life as the lighting designer. She’s a Husker herself, holding a bachelor’s degree in theatre arts from UNL.
