Lincoln, Neb.—The University of Nebraska–Lincoln Jazz Singers will perform a recital titled “Keep an Eye on Spring” on Thursday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Westbrook Recital Hall Rm. 119.

The performance is free and open to the public. The concert will also be live webcast. Visit https://music.unl.edu/webcasts the day of the performance for the link.

The program will include “April Love” composed and arranged by Tyler Thomas, “Blue Flower” composed by Rosana Eckert and arranged by Kerry Marsh, “It Could Happen to You” by Jimmy Van Heusen and Johnny Burke and arranged by Dick Reynolds, and “Oh, Lady Be Good,” by George and Ira Gershwin and arranged by Darmon Meader.

The UNL Jazz Singers will be joined by Ars Nova, the jazz choir from Lincoln Southeast High School, under the direction of Riley Herringer.

“The new ensemble performance schedule during construction of the new music building gives us an exciting opportunity to collaborate with local high school vocal jazz ensembles to get those students in our building and have them experience a Glenn Korff School of Music event from the performer’s perspective,” said Lecturer David von Kampen, who directs the Jazz Singers.

Von Kampen is excited to perform again in Westbrook Rm. 119.

“Jazz Singers performed in Westbrook 119 back in November for the NMEA Conference, and it’s actually an incredible room for vocal jazz,” he said. “The audience really fills up the space and creates an intimate, exciting atmosphere. I can’t wait to get back in there this spring.”
