Art at Cedar Point Info Sessions available Feb. 24 & 27
Lincoln, Neb.--Two informational sessions have been scheduled to provide more information on the Art at Cedar Point 2017 field course, “Mixed Media: Art and Nature,” which will be taught by Associate Professor of Art Eddie Dominguez from June 5-16.
The first info session will be held on Friday, Feb. 24 at 4:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 104, just prior to the closing reception for the Annual Undergraduate Juried Studio Art Competition.
The second info session will be held on Monday, Feb. 27 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Hardin Hall Lobby on East Campus.

Annual undergraduate studio art competition opens Feb. 15
Lincoln, Nebraska—The 30th Annual Undergraduate Studio Art Competition, a juried exhibition of artwork by 40 current undergraduate students in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s School of Art, Art History & Design, opens Feb. 15 at the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall.

Faculty Exhibition opens Jan. 18 at Eisentrager-Howard Gallery
Lincoln, Neb.—The University of Nebraska–Lincoln School of Art, Art History & Design will present the “School of Art, Art History & Design Faculty Exhibition” Jan. 18-Feb. 3 in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall. For the first time, the exhibition will include faculty research from all three areas of the School—Studio Art, Art History and Graphic Design.
A closing reception will be held on First Friday, Feb. 3 from 5-7 p.m. in the Gallery. The event is free and open to the public.

Info Sessions to be held for Hixson-Lied Student Grants
Lincoln, Neb.--Did you know that undergraduate and graduate majors in the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts have the opportunity to apply for funding support from grant programs available through the Hixson-Lied Endowment?
Two informational sessions have been scheduled for Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts students to learn more about applying for Hixson-Lied student grants.
Associate Dean Christopher Marks will give a short overview of the student grants available and then answer questions.

Parallel Visions exhibit includes 2 from School of Art, Art History & Design
Lincoln, Neb.—Two artists from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s School of Art, Art History & Design will present their work at Parallel Visions in February in an exhibition titled “Crosswise Arrangements.”
As February is African American History Month, Sculptor and alumnus Nathan Murray (B.F.A. 2009) and 2nd year graduate student in Photography Zora J. Murff present an exhibition Feb. 3-10 that takes a critical look at race relations in America today, while also acknowledging the necessity for empathy and communication.

Dimitri Nakassis to present next AIA Lecture Jan. 30
Lincoln, Neb.—Dimitri Nakassis, Professor of Classics at the University of Colorado-Boulder and a MacArthur Fellow, will present a lecture titled “Digitizing Prehistory: Aegean Script in the 21st Century” on Monday, Jan. 30 at 5:30 p.m. in Love Library Rm. 102.

Art students present 'Let There Be Light' at the Lux Center in January
Lincoln, Neb.— Eighteen students from University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s School of Art, Art History & Design Associate Professor of Art Sandra Williams’ studio art foundation and drawing courses will be presenting their work in an exhibition titled “Let There Be Light” at the Lux Center for the Arts in January.
“The exhibition is about spreading our inner light, knowledge and positivity as artists to the world,” said Jamaica Wilson, a junior art major from Las Vegas, Nevada. “We just hope to spread happiness to everyone through our passions to create.”
