Sculptor Lobdell presents Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist Lecture April 13

Lincoln, Neb.--Sculptor David Lobdell will present the next lecture of the Hixson-Lied Visiting Artists & Scholars Lecture Series on Thursday, April 13 at 5:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 15. The lecture is free and open to the public.

The School of Art, Art History & Design’s Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist & Scholar Lecture Series brings notable artists, scholars and designers to UNL each semester to enhance the education of students.

Evenings of Dance returns to Lied Center’s Carson Theater

LINCOLN, Neb.— This year’s annual University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Dance Program’s Evenings of Dance Concert features the work of three internationally celebrated guest choreographers; two dance faculty members, whose work has also been seen around the world; two student works that have been presented for adjudication at the American College Dance Association Conference (ACDA) in Wichita, Kan. and for the first time there will be a performance by dance alumni who have founded “embi”, a dance collective.

Evening to feature Duets for Saxophone in Westbrook

LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Saxophone Studio is proud to present its Spring 2017 Studio Concert titled: TWO BY TWO: An Evening Featuring Duets for Saxophone on Monday, April 17 at 7:30 p.m. in Westbrook Recital Hall.

This concert will present works by such composers as Telemann, Ferling, Galante, Schmidt, Hindemith and more.

World premiere will be part of Potter’s viola recital

LINCOLN, Neb.— In a concert which will feature concert music by film composers, Glenn Korff School of Music faculty Clark Potter, viola and Mark Clinton, piano, will perform the world premiere of Ernest Gold’s recently discovered Sonata for Viola and Piano, which dates from the 1950s on Wednesday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.

University Theatre closes season with 'A Bright New Boise'

Lincoln, Neb.--Theatre at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln completes its spring semester season with A BRIGHT NEW BOISE by Samuel D. Hunter. A BRIGHT NEW BOISE, directed by Chadwick Taylor in partial fulfillment of his Master of Fine Arts degree in Directing for Stage and Screen, tackles the prickly issues of faith, forgiveness and second chances. Performances are April 13 - 15 and 19 - 22 at 7:30 p.m. and April 23 at 2 p.m. in Howell Theatre, first floor, Temple Building, 12th & R streets.

MFA Thesis Exhibitions run April 3-21

Lincoln, Neb.—Eight graduating Master of Fine Arts students from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s School of Art, Art History & Design will present their MFA Thesis Exhibitions in three exhibitions on display between April 3-21 in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall.

The first MFA Thesis Exhibition runs April 3-7 and features the work of Larry Buller, Rana Young and Michael Villarreal. A reception will be held April 7 from 5-7 p.m.

Jazz Combo performances coming to Westbrook in April

LINCOLN, Neb.— The Glenn Korff School of Music Undergraduate and the Graduate Jazz Combo performances will take place on consecutive nights in the Westbrook Recital Hall in April on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus. Both of the performances are free and open to the public.
