Flute Festival Day
The 29th annual Flute Festival Day, that took place March 14 in Kimball Recital Hall on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus, brought high school and college flutists plus local area teachers and band directors together for a day-long celebration of the flute, including masterclasses, performances, chamber music and flute choir.

Barnes' 'New Generations' features works by composers who span the decades
Lincoln, Neb.--Paul Barnes’ new project began last Fall when he was booked to be the convention artist for The Christian Fellowship of Art Music Composers national festival (CFAMC) in Los Angeles.“They wanted me to do a solo recital featuring members of this group,” said Barnes, the Marguerite Scribante Professor of Piano in the Glenn Korff School of Music.

Carson School's Howard is national finalist for Kennedy Center's national theatre festival

An Afternoon of Choirs takes over Kimball Recital Hall
LINCOLN, Neb.— An Afternoon of Choirs, featuring three choirs from the Glenn Korff School of Music at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will take center stage on Sunday, March 15 at 3 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.
The event will begin with the University Women’s Chorale, conducted by Therees Hibbard, as they will be performing six pieces including Gloria by Ola Gjeilo and Zions Walls by Aaron Copland.

Chiara String Quartet to perform full concert at College of Law
On Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 7:30 p.m., the Chiara String Quartet (Rebecca Fischer and Hyeyung Julie Yoon, violins; Jonah Sirota, viola; Gregory Beaver, cello) will perform their first ever full concert at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln’s East Campus College of Law (1875 N 42nd St), part of the 2014-2015 Hixson-Lied Concert Series. Student Soloist Night key part of UNL Symphony Orchestra performance
LINCOLN, Neb.— In an annual tradition, the UNL Symphony Orchestra performs music by Mozart, Donizetti, Schumann, Brahms, and Tomasi with winners of the 2014-2015 Glenn Korff School of Music Undergraduate and Graduate Solo Competitions on March 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.

Dezsö to present visiting artist lecture March 10
Lincoln, Neb.—Andrea Dezsö, associate professor of art at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, and maintains studios in New York City and Western Massachusetts, will present a free public lecture on Tuesday, March 10 at 5:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 15.
Dezsö is a visual artist who works across a broad range of media including drawing, painting, artist's books, embroidery, cut paper, animation, sculpture, site-specific installation and public art.

Hitt wins Nebraska Jazz Orchestra's 2015 Young Jazz Artist Award
Lincoln, Neb.—Eric Hitt, a sophomore music major in the Glenn Korff School of Music from Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, has won the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra’s 2015 Young Jazz Artist Award.
He will receive a cash prize and perform as a soloist at the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra’s “Left Coast Swing” concert on Friday, April 17. The concert is at 7:30 p.m. at the Cornhusker Marriott, 333 S 13th St. in Lincoln. Single admission tickets are $25 for adults and $12.50 for students and are available by calling (402) 477-8446.
