Carson School's Howard receives national LMDA Dramaturgy Fellowship

Lincoln, Neb.-- Bryan Howard, a senior English, Theatre Arts and Human Behavior (Interdisciplinary Studies) major in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln's Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film from Howell, New Jersey, has received the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas (LMDA) Dramaturgy Fellowship at the national festival of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF), April 14-18 in Washington, D.C.

Marks named Associate Dean

Lincoln, Neb.--Associate Professor of Organ Christopher Marks has been named Associate Dean of the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts, effective July 1, 2015.

He will take over from Professor of Art History Christin Mamiya, who is returning to the faculty in the Department of Art and Art History. She has served as associate dean since 2009, including one year as interim dean.

Capstone Exhibition opens May 1

Lincoln, Neb.--The Capstone Exhibition will be on display May 1-8. This exhibition features the work of graduating undergraduate candidates for studio art degrees in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Department of Art and Art History.
           
Two exhibitions will run concurrently for the Capstone Exhibition. The Studio Art exhibition will be in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery. Graphic Design students will exhibit in the MEDICI Gallery. Both galleries are located on the first floor of Richards Hall on the UNL city campus.

South Florida’s Owen featured with UNL Jazz Orchestra and Big Band

LINCOLN, Neb.— Distinguished University Professor of Jazz Studies at the University of South Florida Chuck Owen will be featured in the final University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Jazz Orchestra and Big Band concert on Thursday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. The performance will also be live webcast.

Wolff visits UNL, hosts Master Class at the Glenn Korff School of Music

One of Brazil’s most acclaimed and versatile musicians, Daniel Wolff is currently visiting the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music. Wolff will be having a master class on Tuesday, April 21 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in Room 114 of the Westbrook Music Building.

Carson School's Howard receives a Fulbright

Lincoln, Neb.--Bryan Howard, an English and theatre arts and human behavior major from Howell, N.J., is one of five University of Nebraska–Lincoln students who have earned Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship grants for the 2015-2016 academic year.

The Fulbright ETA Program is a nationally competitive award that places recent graduates in classrooms abroad to provide assistance to local English language teachers. These students are also cultural ambassadors for the United States.

Opera On the Big Screen to come to Westbrook Recital Hall

LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Opera Scenes performance is the final project for the Intermediate/Advanced Opera Techniques course. This performance will take place at 4 p.m. on April 22 in the Westbrook Recital Hall.

The theme this year is Opera On The Big Screen, featuring operatic scenes that are used in movie soundtracks. Works include the Flower Duet from LAKMÉ, Sull’aria from LE NOZZE DI FIGARO and La donna è mobile from RIGOLETTO.

The performance is free and open to the public.
