Garelick is awarded visiting professorship at Princeton University
Lincoln, Neb.--Rhonda Garelick has been awarded the Stanley Kelly, Jr., Visiting Professorship for Distinguished Teaching in Comparative Literature at Princeton University for 2015-2016.Garelick is professor of English in the UNL College of Arts and Sciences with a special joint appointment in the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts and is the founder and director of the Interdisciplinary Arts Symposium in the Hixson-Lied College. She is on leave from UNL to teach at Princeton this year.

Glenn Korff School of Music goes global with webcasting
More than 4,000 unique users from all over the world watched more than 102,000 minutes of 39 concerts webcast this academic year by the Glenn Korff School of Music. In addition, 1,500 people watched more than 6,000 minutes per month of the archived videos posted on YouTube.
“It’s been a remarkably happy success,” said Glenn Korff School of Music Director John W. Richmond as he summed up the first full year of webcasting selected concerts.
The idea for webcasting began many years ago.

Cornhusker Marching Band takes over Memorial Stadium
LINCOLN, Neb.— The Cornhusker Marching Band’s annual exhibition performance will take place Friday, August 21 at 7 p.m. in Memorial Stadium on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus.
You'll see highlights of what the Cornhusker Marching Band has been working on during their pre-season Band Camp, including the famous "drill down," a preview of the first halftime show and hear many more Husker favorites.

Big Red Singers take the stage on Saturday, August 22
LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s own Big Red Singers will take the stage on Saturday, August 22 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.
The exhibition performance is a high-energy performance of singing and expert choreography. The concert is free and open to the public, but patrons are advised to come early to get the best seats. It will be a performance to remember!

The Ross lowers admission price; gets upgrades
Lincoln, Neb.--As of July 1, The Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center has lowered all of its admission prices by 25¢ in order to reward its customers for their support. Moreover, UNL students will be admitted to any screenings at any time of the day or night at a price of $5.This and other changes and upgrades already completed, planned, or in process have been made possible by a generous gift from the estate of Mary Riepma Ross, establishing what will eventually be a $9.5 million endowment at the University Foundation earmarked for The Ross.

North American premiere of Owens opera is Aug. 7
Lincoln, Neb.--The Glenn Korff School of Music will present the North American premiere of composer Robert Owens’ opera titled “Culture! Culture!” on Friday, Aug. 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Studio Theatre, located on the first floor of the Temple Building at 12th and R sts.Tickets are free, but must be reserved in advance. Free tickets are available on the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film tickets website at https://go.unl.edu/theatretix. The fully staged chamber opera will be accompanied by piano.

Kunc's work featured in 'Art in Print'
Lincoln, Neb.--Cather Professor of Art Karen Kunc's work, "Oscillation Shift" (2015) was selected as the Prix de Print and featured in an essay in the latest issue of Art in Print (Vol. 5, No. 2).The Prix de Print is a bimonthly competition, open to all subscribers of the magazine, in which a single work is selected by an outside juror to be the subject of a brief essay. This month's juror was David Storey.
"Oscillation Shift" is a color reduction woodcut print, printed and published by Kunc at her Constellation Studios in Lincoln.

Alumni Exhibition continues through Aug. 7 at Eisentrager-Howard Gallery
Lincoln, Neb.—Forty-three alumni from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Department of Art and Art History will show their work this summer in the exhibition “UNL Alumni Artists 1970-1973” in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall.
The exhibition opens May 18 and continues through Aug. 7 in the gallery, which is located on the first floor of Richards Hall. Visitors can stop by Rm. 120 of Richards Hall Monday-Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for access to the gallery.
