Nebraska Steel prepares for debut performance
Lincoln, Neb.--Warm rhythms of the Caribbean are aligning with robin song and daffodil blooms to sweep away remnants of winter chill at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
Launched in January by the Glenn Korff School of Music, Nebraska Steel — the university’s first student ensemble dedicated to playing steel drum music — debuts April 24. The ensemble, led by Dave Hall, assistant professor of percussion, includes 22 Huskers grooving on four styles of pans and other percussion instruments to drive the distinctive, laid-back beat of steel drum music.

ChamberFest, Honors ChamberFest Concerts coming at end of April
Reception to honor Chiara String Quartet following Friday performance
LINCOLN, Neb.— Groups formed at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music perform at ChamberFest and Honors ChamberFest performances during the last week of April. All of the performances are free and open to the public. It’s all part of the UNL Chamber Music program.
ChamberFest takes place on Wednesday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. in Westbrook Recital Hall.

World-renowned composer Philip Glass to be at the Lied Center for 'A Celebration of Philip Glass'
Lincoln, Neb.--“A Celebration of Philip Glass” will take place on Tuesday, April 17 at the Lied Center for Performing Arts. The event is the culmination of a 24-year friendship between Marguerite Scribante Professor of Piano Paul Barnes and world-renowned composer Philip Glass.
“This one, special night is going to be the culmination of our entire professional relationship,” Barnes said.
