Nebraska Repertory Theatre launches new, year-round season with 'Abigail/1702'

Lincoln, Neb.--The Nebraska Repertory Theatre, the state’s only regional professional theatre, associated with the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film in the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, launches its first year-round season September 30, 2017 with ABIGAIL/1702 by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

Hoff's excavation in Turkey yields light industrial finds

Lincoln, Neb.—Three additional kilns were uncovered this summer at the Antiochia at Cragum excavation in Turkey this summer, bringing the total to six kilns. The kilns, along with a previously uncovered glass manufacturing workshop, all found in the bath house area of the site, indicates the area became light industrial in nature during the late Roman Empire (5th to 7th century A.D.).

Performance cancellation, date change and site change

LINCOLN, Neb.— There are a few changes to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music performance calendar for this fall.

The Darryl White performance scheduled for November 19 in Kimball Recital Hall has been canceled.

 The Play with the Chiara audition scheduled for November 28 in Westbrook’s Recital Hall has been moved to October 26 at 7 p.m. in Westbrook’s Room 132.

Printmaker Worob to present next Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist Lecture

Lincoln, Neb.--The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s School of Art, Art History & Design’s Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist & Scholar Lecture Series brings notable artists, scholars and designers to Nebraska each semester to enhance the education of students.

Printmaker Sukha Worob will present the next lecture on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 5:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 15. Worob’s lecture is free and open to the public.

Reimer donates composer papers of Robert Owens to University of Nebraska–Lincoln Libraries

Lincoln, Neb.--Glenn Korff School of Music Associate Professor of Voice Jamie Reimer has donated a collection of published works, concert programs and reviews, photographs and other memorabilia she received from composer Robert Owens to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Libraries. The collection, titled “Robert Owens, Composer Papers,” will reside in the Music Library in Westbrook Music Building.

“It’s overwhelming to think that a decade of a relationship has resulted in this tremendous gift,” Reimer said.

Carson School presents work created at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London this summer

Lincoln, Neb.--Get a behind-the-scenes look at the work created by Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film students at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London this summer when they present "Journeys End in Lovers Meeting:  JCSTF at Shakespeare's Globe."

The event is Saturday, Sept. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Studio Theatre, which is located on the first floor of the Temple Building at 12th and R sts. Free admission, but seating is limited. Doors will open at 7 p.m.
