Chamber Singers to perform ‘Sing We and Chant It’

LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music’s Chamber Singers will perform “Sing We and Chant it” Masterworks from the Golden Age of Vocal Music on Sunday, October 22 at 3 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.

GKSOM success continues at Nebraska NATS

Students in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music once again had a tremendous amount of success at the Nebraska NATS (National Association of the Teachers of Singing) Student Auditions that took place at the University of Nebraska-Kearney on Friday, October 6.

GKSOM students won 63 percent of the collegiate prizes including 6 of the 10 first places; 6 of the 10 second places and 5 of the 7 third places.

Rejoicing kicks off Evenings of Choirs performance in Kimball

LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music’s Evenings of Choirs concert (University Women’s Chorale, Varsity Men’s Chorus and All-Collegiate Choir) will start with a monumental and seminal choral work from the 20th-Century, Benjamin Britten’s amazing “Rejoice in the Lamb” on Thursday, October 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.

Printmaker Isaksen to present next Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist Lecture

Lincoln, Neb.--The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s School of Art, Art History & Design’s Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist & Scholar Lecture Series brings notable artists, scholars and designers to Nebraska each semester to enhance the education of students.

Printmaker Eva Isaksen will present the next lecture on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 5:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 15. Isaksen’s lecture is free and open to the public.

Sturm, Allen combine for ‘Bass Meets Voice’ in Westbrook

LINCOLN, Neb.— Dr. Hans Sturm, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Professor of Double Bass, will perform a duo recital “Bass Meets Voice” with his wife, the award-winning jazz vocalist Jackie Allen on Friday, October 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Westbrook Recital Hall in the Glenn Korff School of Music.

Nebraska National exhibition continues through Oct. 20 at Eisentrager-Howard Gallery

Lincoln, Neb.—The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s School of Art, Art History & Design is hosting the sixth annual Nebraska National Undergraduate Juried Art Exhibition. The exhibition features the work of the best undergraduate student artists from across the country.

Nebraska National continues through Oct. 20 in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall. There will be a reception on Friday, Oct. 6 from 5-7 p.m. in the gallery with the awards announced at 6 p.m.

LINCOLN, Neb.— “Light and Life” will be the title of the University Singers fall performance that will take place in the magnificent new campus Newman Center at the corner of 16th and Q Streets at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 12. It is free and open to the public.

‘Heavenly Voices’ highlight second Chiara series concert

LINCOLN, Neb.— On Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 7:30 p.m., the Chiara String Quartet (Rebecca Fischer and Hyeyung Julie Yoon, violins; Jonah Sirota, viola; Gregory Beaver, cello) continue their performances on 2017-2018 Hixson-Lied Concert Series at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music in Kimball Recital Hall (11th and R Streets).
