‘Lift Up Your Hearts’ with the University Singers

LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska’s historic flagship choral ensemble, the University Singers, fresh still off of a triumphal performance last spring at Carnegie Hall, will perform a one-hour set of new literature on Thursday, October 13th, at 7:30 p.m. in the glorious acoustics of the new Newman Center. The concert is free of charge and open to the public.

Nebraska ceramics alumni featured in exhibition

Lincoln, Neb.—“Nebraska Ceramic Alumni Exhibition” will be on display in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Eisentrager-Howard Gallery from Oct. 7-21.

 

A First Friday reception will be held on Friday, Oct. 7 from 5-7 p.m. in the gallery. The reception is free and open to the public.

 

The exhibition consists of artworks from 35 ceramics alumni of the former UNL Department of Art & Art History. It was organized to coincide with the American Craft Council Conference, “Presence Tense,” that will occur Oct. 13-15 at Kaneko in Omaha.

Photographer Ron Jude presents ‘Those Are Not Mountains You See’ Oct. 11

Lincoln, Neb.--Photographer Ron Jude will present the next lecture of the Hixson-Lied Visiting Artists & Scholars Lecture Series, titled “Those Are Not Mountains You See,” on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 5:30 p.m. in Sheldon Museum of Art’s auditorium on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln city campus. The lecture is free and open to the public.

 

Jude’s visit is sponsored by Sheldon Museum of Art and the Hixson-Lied Visiting Artists & Scholars Lecture Series.

From UNL Theatre to mom to web star, Hensley returns for popular #IMomSoHard live shows

Lincoln, Neb.--Their online videos feature casual conversations about school picture day, good lies to tell your kids and friends, the challenges of finding summer activities for your kids, wearing Spanx, removing body hair from various locations on your body, and the lack of sleep that mothers endure.

 

Kristin Hensley (B.A. Theatre 1998) and Jen Smedley are two Los Angeles-based mothers originally from Nebraska, who created the highly successful web series #IMomSoHard.

UNL Symphony Orchestra opens its concert season

LINCOLN, Neb.— On Sunday, October 9 at 3:00 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Symphony Orchestra opens its 2016-17 concert season with a program of music by Haydn, Kodály, and Enescu. The concert, under the direction of Director of Orchestras Tyler Goodrich White, opens with one of the most famous and beloved of Joseph Haydn’s “London” symphonies, the Symphony No. 101 in D major (“The Clock”).
