Clay Club and Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist Series presents Gustin and Grimm Nov. 15

Lincoln, Neb.--Ceramicists Chris Gustin and Gerit Grimm will present the final lecture of the Fall Hixson-Lied Visiting Artists & Scholars Lecture Series on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 5:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 15 on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln city campus. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Three Brass Ensembles take to Westbrook stage in November

LINCOLN, Neb.— The Large Brass Ensembles at the UNL Glenn Korff School of Music (the Husker Horn Choir, the Nebraska Trombone Ensemble and the UNL Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble) will have its fall performance on Monday, November 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Westbrook Recital Hall.

U. of Nebraska wins big at West Central NATS

The National Association of the Teachers of Singing West Central 2016 Student Auditions took place at Wichita State University on November 4-5, 2016. There were 342 students-singers entered, adjudicated by 56 voice professionals from private studios, universities and colleges in Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado and Wyoming.

Twenty University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music student-singers qualified to enter the 2017 NATS National Student Auditions. Nebraska students won 29 percent of the collegiate prizes and 57 percent of the categories.

Lincoln, Neb.--Graduate students in the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program in the School of Art, Art History & Design will be hosting an Open Studios event on Friday, Nov. 11 from 5-8 p.m. in Richards Hall and Woods Art Building. Admission is free and open to the public.

Carson School's Uribe returns for Alumni Masters Week

Lincoln, Neb.--Julie Uribe (B.F.A. 1984), a television producer with more than 25 years of experience in Hollywood, has been selected to participate in the Alumni Masters Week, a program sponsored by the Nebraska Alumni Association, Scarlet Guard and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Chancellor’s Office.

“This is exciting for me,” Uribe said.

She said the recognition was a nice “welcome home,” as earlier this year she and her husband moved back to Lincoln to be closer to her aging parents.

MEDICI exhibition opens Nov. 4; fund-raiser is Nov. 17

Lincoln, Neb.--The annual MEDICI exhibition will be on display Nov. 4-17 at the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall, culminating in their annual fund-raiser Nov. 17.

A First Friday opening reception will be held on Friday, Nov. 4 from 5-7 p.m. in the gallery. The reception is free and open to the public.

The exhibition previews the works available for the art sale and silent auction at the fund-raising event. Art by Nebraska-educated and supporting artists will be sold to purchase new equipment and improve facilities in the School of Art, Art History & Design.

Opera program presents 'Little Women'

Lincoln, Neb.--The Glenn Korff School of Music’s opera program will present “Little Women” on Nov. 11 and 13.

 

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11 and 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13 in Kimball Recital Hall. Tickets are $20 adults and $10 students/seniors. For advance ticket sales, contact the Lied Center Box Office at (402) 472-4747. Tickets are also available online at https://go.unl.edu/oawi.

BISoN iPad quintet to perform Nov. 5

Lincoln, Neb.—The composition program in the Glenn Korff School of Music will be hosting the Boulder Image and Sound Network (BISoN) ensemble from Boulder, Colorado, on Nov. 5 Directed by Hunter Ewen, BISoN is a groundbreaking, five-member quintet that performs a wild variety of music using nothing but iPads.

 

BISoN will be giving a mini concert and talkback session for composition students on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. in Westbrook Music Building Rm. 110. The event is free and open to the public.
