Solo Competition Winners announced
The Glenn Korff School of Music at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is pleased to announce the winners of the recent Solo Competition that took place over two nights in Westbrook Recital Hall.
The Graduate winners include Dimitra Kokkinopoulou, piano and Jennifer Reeves, clarinet with honorable mentions including Jennifer Son, cello and Ayaka Kondo, piano.
The Undergraduate winners include J.T. McLaughlin, euphonium and Alyssa Vrable, soprano with honorable mentions including Kate Johnson, soprano; Jonathan Vusich, piano and William White, alto trombone.

Carson School purchases 3-D printer for designers
Lincoln, Neb.--With support from the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts, the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film has purchased a Formlabs Form 2 desktop 3-D printer for theatre design.
Assistant Professor of Theatre J.D. Madsen said it’s a stereolithographic, resin-based printer, which creates a higher degree of detail than an extrusion-based or PLC printer.
“It goes down as fine as 0.01 microns, which is basically a human hair thick,” he said.

UNL Percussion Ensemble wins International Percussion Ensemble Competition
Lincoln, Neb.--The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Percussion Ensemble is one of four university percussion ensembles to win the Percussive Arts Society’s International Percussion Ensemble Competition. They will perform in front of thousands of attendees during the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) Nov. 9-12 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
