Fuelberth wins NCDA Outstanding Choral Director of the Year Award

LINCOLN, Neb.— Dr. Rhonda Fuelberth, Glenn Korff School of Music Associate Professor of Music Education, received the Nebraska Choral Directors Association 2016 Nebraska Outstanding Choral Director of the Year award at the state Nebraska Music Educators Association All-State Conference and Clinic last week.

ChamberFest, Honors ChamberFest performances coming soon

LINCOLN, Neb.— Groups formed at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music will perform at ChamberFest and Honors ChamberFest performances on Friday, December 2 and Saturday, December 3. All of the performances are free and open to the public.

 

Seven chamber groups will perform on Friday, December 2 beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Westbrook Recital Hall.

Student Dance Project is always a special performance

LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music dance program’s 12th annual Student Dance Project will take place on both Friday, December 2 and Saturday, December 3 in the dance space in Mabel Lee Hall (14th and Vine) beginning at 7:30 p.m. each night. Tickets are $5 general admission and $3 for students & seniors and will be available at the door.

Chamber Singers performance time at Sheldon changed again

LINCOLN, Neb.— The time of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Chamber Singers Friday, December 2 performance at the Sheldon Museum of Art has been changed again to a 5:30 p.m start. They will do two sets. One at 5:30 p.m. and one at 6:15 p.m.

 

The performance is a part of the Sheldon’s First Friday event in December.

Wet Ink! Composition performances coming soon

LINCOLN, Neb.— Wet Ink!, a concert series spread over two nights, features never-before-heard music composed and performed entirely by students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Both of the performances take place in the Westbrook Recital Hall in the Glenn Korff School of Music at 7:30 p.m. The performances are on Wednesday, November 30 and Thursday, December 1.

Chiara String Quartet "Hall and Notes"

Lincoln, NE – On Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 7:30pm, the Chiara String Quartet will be performing the second concert of the 2016-2017 Hixson-Lied Concert Series at Kimball Recital Hall (11th and R Streets). The program, titled “Hall and Notes,” will feature the Chiara Quartet alongside Glenn Korff School of Music percussion professor Dave Hall in a program of dynamic music for quartet and percussion, paired with the Mendelssohn String Quartet in D Major, Op. 44, No. 1.

Carleton College's Knodell to discuss Mazi Archaeological Project in Greece

Lincoln, Neb.—Alex Knodell, an assistant professor in the Classics department at Carleton College and co-director of the archaeology program, will present the next lecture for the Archaeological Institute of America Omaha-Lincoln Society on Wednesday, Nov. 30.

 

His lecture, titled “Survey Archaeology and Long-Term History:  Crossroads and Boundaries in an Ancient Greek Borderland” will be presented on Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m. in the Dudley Bailey Library, 228 Andrews Hall. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Glenn Korff School doctoral piano student is among the winners of international music competition

Lincoln, Neb.--Yanbing Dong, a third-year Doctor of Musical Arts student in the Glenn Korff School of Music, is among 39 winners of the 2016 London Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition.

Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition is open to all nationalities and ages in strings, piano, wind, vocal and chamber music. Each discipline is divided into different age categories. The competition encourages young musicians to perform and grow.

U. of Nebraska Brass Quintet plans late November recital

LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska Brass Quintet will present a Fall Recital on Monday, November 28 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. The Glenn Korff School of Music quintet is performing music by composers we know and music by composers who are new to us.
