Student art sales are Dec. 9-10

Lincoln, Neb.— The School of Art, Art History & Design is hosting the Clay Club’s Fall Sale and Raffle and the Photo Club's Photo Sale on Dec. 9-10 in Richards Hall.

 

Hours for both sales are Friday, Dec. 9 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Both sales are in Richards Hall. The pottery sale will take place in Rm. 118, while the Photo Sale will take place in the conference room in Rm. 121 and the MEDICI Gallery.

Travels highlight U. of Nebraska Wind Ensemble performance

LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Wind Ensemble’s second concert of the season on Wednesday, December 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall opens with a brand-new work by Alexandra Gardner, Perseids. Named for the meteor shower visible in the Northern hemisphere in July and August, the work is a metaphorical navigational tool in a program inspired by travel.

Join U. of Nebraska Symphonic Band for ‘A Night at the Symphony’

LINCOLN, Neb.— Join the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Symphonic Band, conducted by Prof. Tony Falcone with Graduate Assistant conductor Bradley Nelsen, for their program titled, A Night at the Symphony on Tuesday, December 6 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. The Band will present Mendelssohn’s Overture for Winds, the Arutunian Trumpet Concerto featuring Professor of Trumpet Dr. Darryl White, and Giannini’s Symphony No. 3.

UNL Theatre continues with new adaptation of 'Hamlet'

Lincoln, Neb.--UNL Theatre, the main stage production program at The Johnny Carson School of Theatre & Film at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, continues its 2016-2017 season with a new adaptation of William Shakespeare’s HAMLET. HAMLET is adapted by Wesley Broulik.

 

Performances are Nov. 17, 18 & 30 and Dec. 1, 2, 3 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees, Nov. 20 & Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. in the Temple Building’s Howell Theatre, first floor.

Lincoln, Neb.—The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts is seeking applications for the 20th annual Nebraska Young Artist Awards.

The Nebraska Young Artist Awards annually recognize 11th grade students from Nebraska who are gifted and talented in the areas of visual art, dance, music, theatre, and film and new media. These students exemplify the pinnacles of creativity in one of the fine and performing arts.

UNL/LPS String Project performance coming up November 30

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln/Lincoln Public Schools String Project Fall Concert will take place Wednesday, November 30 at 6 p.m. at Park Middle School.

The performance will demonstrate what the third and fourth grade students have learned after ten weeks of classes working with students from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music.

Welcome All Wonders debuts at Newman Center on December 4

LINCOLN, Neb.— Five of the traditional choirs from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music plus an annual guest choir (this year, the premiere choir from Norris High School, located just south of Lincoln) will combine in the new, incredible Newman Center at the corner of 16th and Q streets for a holiday concert titled Welcome All Wonders (formerly Cocoa and Carols) on Sunday, December 4 at both 3 and 7:30 p.m.
