Sayre to present the next AIA lecture Nov. 11 on the Ancient Andes

Matthew Sayre, Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the University of South Dakota, will present a lecture titled "Pilgrimage Across the Ancient Andes:  From Machu Picchu to Chavin de Huantar," on Monday, Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 15. The lecture is free and open to the public.

May named Nebraska Music Teachers Association Nebraska Young Artist Woodwind Competition Winner

The UNL Saxophone Studio is proud to announce Sophomore Performance Major (BM) Nicholas May has been named the Nebraska Music Teachers Association Nebraska Young Artist Woodwind Competition Winner.  

The competition took place Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Nebraska Wesleyan University.  May performed works by Bach, Creston, Glazounov, Bonneau and Gotkovsky.  A native of Nebraska, May is a member of the Westbrook Saxophone Quartet, UNL Jazz Orchestra and the UNL Wind Ensemble at the Glenn Korff School of Music at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Johnny Carson School's Nebraska Masquers to open Haunted House

Nebraska Masquers, a Recognized Student Organization within the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film, will open their annual haunted house, Temple of Terror, on October 28th.  UNL’s Temple Building, located at 12th and R streets, will open its doors to all who dare to enter October 28th – 30th, 7pm – 1am. The main entrance will be located on 12th street, directly across from the Lied Center.

 Individual tickets for Temple of Terror are $5. Group tickets for groups of 5 or more are $3.  All tickets will be sold at the door.

UNL Opera to perform Albert Herring in November

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Opera will be performing Albert Herring on November 8 and 10 in the Glenn Korff School of Music Kimball Recital Hall.

Johnny Carson School’s Theatrix To Open Season with No Exit

The Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film’s student run theatre company, Theatrix will open its 2013 – 2014 season with No Exit by Jean-Paul Sartre, October 24 – 27. Performances on October 24th and 25th begin at 7:30pm, and performances on October 26th and 27th begin at 2:00pm.

Two exhibitions open Oct. 11 at Eisentrager-Howard Gallery

Two exhibitions open Oct. 11 at the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall, in conjunction with the Midwest Society for Photographic Education (MWSPE) 2013 Regional Conference.

“Boundaries: The Permeability of Social Constructs” and “MWSPE Scholarship Winners Exhibition” will both be on display through Oct. 26 in the Gallery. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 12:30-4:30 p.m.

UNL Theatre opens season with 'Silence'

UNL University Theatre, the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film’s academic year main stage production program, opens its 2013-2014 season with "Silence" by Moira Buffini. Graduate student Dennis Henry directs this production in partial fulfillment for a Master of Fine Arts degree in Directing for Stage and Screen.

Trans-Nebraska Players take to the Kimball Recital Hall stage Saturday

The Trans-Nebraska Players, a 5-piece chamber ensemble from three different Nebraska collegiate institutions, performs at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28 in Kimball Recital Hall. The performers are Franziska Brech, flute, and Noah Rogoff, cello, from UNK; David C. Neely, violin, and Clark Potter, viola, from UNL; and pianist James Margetts from Chadron State University.
