McMullen to present works by British composers

Dr. William McMullen, oboe, and Catherine Herbener, piano, will be presenting a recital of four works for oboe and piano by British composers from the Baroque era to the modern time at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21 in Kimball Recital Hall.

'Emulsion' Opens Jan. 17 at UNL's Eisentrager-Howard Gallery

"Emulsion," featuring works by Amy Smith and Simon Levin, will be on display Jan. 17-28 at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln's Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall.

A reception will be held on Friday, Jan. 24 from 5-7 p.m. in the Gallery. The reception is free and open to the public.

Gilbert finds her place in musical theatre

Angela Gilbert’s life as a vocal performance major is pretty crazy. From performing and rehearsing with the University Singers, Boots and Cats and the Big Red Singers, the junior at the UNL Glenn Korff School of Music admits it can all be a little tough to balance at times, but it’s so worth it.

Carson School junior receives 2014 Cannes International Film Festival Internship

Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film Junior Taylar Morrissey, of Aberdeen, S.D., has been selected to be a student intern at the American Pavilion at the 2014 Cannes International Film Festival in Cannes, France.

Hundreds of students compete for the 150-175 spots in the internship program, which provides experience to students interested in film, culinary arts and hospitality and event management.

UNL MFA Student wins National SPE Conference Scholarship

Chadric Devin, a second-year Master of Fine Arts student in photography from Cole Camp, Mo., has received a 2014 Society for Photographic Education (SPE) Student Award to attend the national conference in Baltimore in March.

Capstone Exhibition begins Dec. 13 at UNL

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln's Department of Art and Art History presents the work of this semester's graduating seniors in the "Capstone Exhibition" Dec. 13-20 in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall.

A closing reception will be held on Friday, Dec. 20 from 5-7 p.m. in the Gallery. The reception is free and open to the public.

Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center receives $7.7 million gift from namesake, longtime arts benefactor

Sheldon Museum of Art receives alumna’s personal art collection

Patrons of the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center and the Sheldon Museum of Art at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln have reason to celebrate this holiday season.

Mary Riepma Ross, who was an attorney in New York City and among the first women to practice law there, donated $7.7 million to the University of Nebraska Foundation through her estate to create a permanent endowment for the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center.

Johnny Carson School’s Theatrix To Continue Season With Lion In The Streets

The Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film’s student run theatre company, Theatrix will open its second production in its 2013 – 2014 season Thursday, December 5th at 7:30pm.  Performances of Lion In The Streets, written by Judith Thompson, run December 5th – 7th at 7:30pm, and December 8th at 2:00pm.
