Lincoln Assassination Workshop
The Lincoln Assassination Workshop, to be held April 5-6, 2014, is a stage combat workshop sanctioned by the Society of American Fight Directors that takes place each spring at the Johnny Carson School. It's also a weekend of mayhem, fun, and an incredible learning experience.

UNL's Carson School's Van Winkle a finalist for Hemsley Lighting Internship
Clayton Van Winkle, a third-year graduate student from Garland, Texas, is a national finalist for the prestigious Gilbert Hemsley Lighting Internship. In addition, his lighting design for last year’s “Candide” won first place recognition at the Region V Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), and he will represent the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film at the national festival in Washington, D.C., April 14-19.
“The ACTF honor was great, but the Hemsley was just huge,” Van Winkle said. “This is the premier lighting internship in the nation.”

Nebraska Masquers Present Magic Marvels: A Night of Granting Wishes; A Benefit for the Make-A-Wish® Foundation
Nebraska Masquers, a Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film sponsored Recognized Student Organization, and the Kappa Chapter of Chi Omega have teamed up, and are extremely proud to present Magic Marvels: A Night of Granting Wishes. Magic Marvels is a theatrical production of illusion and mystery in benefit of the Make-A-Wish® Foundation. The Make-A-Wish Foundation is an organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.

UNL to launch new college integrating fine and performing arts, architecture
Two UNL colleges will consolidate to build new programs that attract today's students and expand research collaborations, top campus administrators said.
Chancellor Harvey Perlman and Ellen Weissinger, senior vice chancellor for academic affairs, announced last week an initiative to create the new UNL college, which will unite the College of Architecture and the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts, pending approval by the University of Nebraska Board of Regents.

Next AIA Lecture focuses on Athenian Acropolis
Nancy Klein, a classical archaeologist from Texas A&M University, will present the next Lincoln-Omaha Society of the Archaeological Institute of America lecture on what the Athenian Acropolis was like before the Parthenon was constructed in the 440s B.C.
Klein's lecture, titled "Before the Parthenon: The Architecture of the Archaic Athenian Acropolis" will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24 in Richards Hall Rm. 15 on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln City Campus. The lecture is free and open to the public.

UNL Glenn Korff School of Music opera program to present Cendrillon (Cinderella)
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music's opera program will present Jules Massenet's "Cendrillon" (Cinderella) on Feb. 21 and 23. The performances will be directed by Hixson-Lied Professor of Voice and Director of Opera William Shomos.
Performances are Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 23 at 3 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall, 11th and R sts. Tickets are $20 adults and $10 for students/seniors. They are available in advance from the Lied Center Box Office at (402) 472-4747 or (800) 432-3231 or at the door.
