Nebraska National Exhibition ends Sept. 27
The Department of Art and Art History will host the second annual Nebraska National Exhibition this Fall, featuring the categories of painting, drawing, and sculpture.
The exhibition opens on First Friday, Sept. 6 and continues through Sept. 27 in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday 12:30-4:30 p.m.
A First Friday opening reception will be held on Friday, Sept. 6 from 6-8 p.m. in the gallery.

Cornhusker Marching Band warms up for season
The Cornhusker Marching Band returns to Memorial Stadium prior to the kickoff of the 2013 season with The Cornhusker Marching Band Exhibition on Friday, August 23 beginning at 7 p.m. The performance is free and open to the public.
Always a crowd-pleasing favorite, the exhibition will be a warm up for the season opening game against Wyoming. The band will perform its Pregame Spectacular along with a preview of the first halftime show and many other Husker favorites.

College presented coproduction of "Candide"
Once every four years, the School of Music and the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film collaborate on a large-scale musical production sponsored by the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts. February 2013, we presented the regional premiere of Mary Zimmerman’s adaptation of “Candide,” Leonard Bernstein’s 1956 operetta.
“It was a feast for the eyes, the ears and the heart,” said Alisa Belflower, who directed the production.

Senior receives Television Academy internship
Cory Soukup, a film and new media senior in the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, is the recipient of a prestigious internship from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Foundation.
Associate Professor of Film Sharon Teo-Gooding is thrilled that the Carson School has two students this summer who received these prestigious internships.
“To have two in one summer, when we only have 40 majors? That’s incredible,” she said. “I’m so excited.”

Blache honored by International Sculpture Center
Matthew Blache, who received his Master of Fine Arts in sculpture in May, was named a 2013 Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Honorable Mention from the International Sculpture Center (ISC).
More than 414 nominations were made from 159 colleges and universities worldwide.

UNL Chamber Singers to perform in Oxford
The UNL Chamber Singers have been invited to perform at the Conference of the Association of British Choral Directors (ABCD) in Oxford, U.K., in August and will be attending with support from the Hixson-Lied Endowment, Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts and the School of Music.
The 25-member vocal ensemble provides a chamber vocal experience for singers and is under the direction of Associate Professor of Choral Music Therees Hibbard.
