The UNL Saxophone Studio, in partnership with Chateau Development LLC, is proud to present legendary saxophonist/woodwind artist Bob Sheppard in concert with the UNL Jazz Faculty.  This concert will take place on Friday, October 26, 2018 in Westbrook Recital Hall at 7:30 PM.

Theatrix presents 'Dry Land' Nov. 1-4

Lincoln, Neb.--Theatrix, the student-run theatre company within the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, continues its 2018-2019 season with Dry Land, written by Ruby Rae Spiegel and directed by University of Nebraska–Lincoln student, Kaitlin Triplett.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1, 2, 3 and 2 p.m. on Nov. 4. All performances take place in the Lab Theatre in the Temple Building at 12th and R Streets. Dry Land contains mature content that may not be suitable for all audiences.

Painter Jim Richard presents the next Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist Lecture Oct. 10

Lincoln, Neb.—Painter Jim Richard will present the next Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist Lecture on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 5:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 15. The lecture is free and open to the public.

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s School of Art, Art History & Design’s Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist & Scholar Lecture Series brings notable artists, scholars and designers to Nebraska each semester to enhance the education of students.

Richard lives and works in New Orleans, where he taught painting for many years at the University of New Orleans.

Pinnell appointed president of NCECA

Lincoln, Neb.--Professor of Art Peter Pinnell will be the next president of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA).

Pinnell will be joining Holly Hanessian, professor of art at Florida State University and current president, in the spring of 2019 to begin a four-year presidential cycle that includes one year as president elect, two years as president and a final year as past president.

UNL Jazz Ensembles ‘Kickoff’ 2018-19 season

Eisentrager-Howard Gallery hosts Mid-America College Art Association Members Exhibition Oct. 3-19

Lincoln, Neb.--The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s School of Art, Art History & Design will display the “2018 MACAA Members Exhibition” Oct. 3-19 at the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall.

An opening reception will be held on First Friday, Oct. 5 from 5-8 p.m. in the gallery. The reception is free and open to the public.

The exhibition is happening in conjunction with the Mid-America College Art Association (MACAA) Conference, “Techne Expanding: Tensions, Terrains and Tools,” hosted by the University of Nebraska–Lincoln on Oct. 4-5.

Saxophone Day canceled

LINCOLN, Neb.— Saxophone Day, scheduled for October 27, 2018 has been canceled. The Bob Sheppard performance, scheduled for October 26 in Westbrook Recital Hall with members of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Jazz Faculty will still take place.

Nebraska high school juniors invited to apply for Nebraska Young Artist Awards

Lincoln, Neb.--The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts is seeking applications for the 22nd annual Nebraska Young Artist Awards.

The Nebraska Young Artist Awards annually recognize 11th grade students from Nebraska who are gifted and talented in the areas of visual art, dance, music, theatre, and emerging media arts. These students exemplify the pinnacles of creativity in one of the fine and performing arts.
