Graduate students in studio art to host Open Studios Nov. 13

Lincoln, Neb.--Graduate students in the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program in the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln will host an Open Studios event on Friday, Nov. 13 from 5-8 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

Barnes releases new CD titled "New Generations"

Lincoln, Neb.--University of Nebraska–Lincoln Marguerite Scribante Professor of Piano Paul Barnes’ new CD titled “New Generations” will be released by Orange Mountain Music on Nov. 20. The CD is available on iTunes and Amazon and other retail outlets.

“This is the culminating event of a two-year project,” Barnes said. “I’m thrilled with how well the recording came out and look forward to many CD release recitals in the future.”

Nebraska Masquers presents Temple of Terror haunted house

Lincoln, Neb.--Nebraska Masquers, an RSO of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will produce its annual Temple of Terror haunted house. Temple of Terror: Nightmare on R Street will be open from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29, Friday, Oct. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 31.

Tickets are $5 per person, or $3 per person if you are with a group of five or more people. Temple of Terror: Nightmare on R Street will lead visitors on a tour of the rooms and theaters located on the third floor of the Temple Building on UNL's city campus. The Temple Building is located at 12th and R St.

UNL Graduate Jazz Combos performing in Westbrook on November 8

LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln graduate jazz combos will be performing primarily original compositions written by our Glenn Korff School of Music student performers on Sunday, November 8 at 3 p.m. in the Westbrook Recital Hall.

 

Other selections will feature the music of artist such as Jodi Proznick, Kenny Barron and Freddie Hubbard. “Westbrook: After Dark”, written by Andrew Janak, is sure to be a favorite.

Lincoln, Neb.--The Under Pressure Print Club, with the assistance of the Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist Series, welcomes Tara Sabharwal to UNL Nov. 2-6.

Sabharwal will present a free public lecture on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 5:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 14. There will be a reception and demonstration in the Woods Art Building Rm. 303 following the public lecture.

Visiting Artist Stella Ebner to lecture Oct. 22

Lincoln, Neb.--The Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist Series welcomes printmaker Stella Ebner to UNL on Oct. 21-23.

Ebner will present a free public lecture on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 5:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 15.

Ebner received her BFA from the University of Minnesota and her MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. Exhibitions of her work include: the Bronx Museum of Arts, the International Print Center New York (New York City) and the Print Center (Philadelphia), Kala Art Institute (Berkeley), and SFMOMA Artists Gallery (San Francisco).
