Graphic Design Symposium highlighted visual communications

Lincoln, Neb.-- The graphic design program in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Department of Art and Art History hosted a symposium this September titled “Design + Social Justice” to highlight the visual communications, stories and portraits of revolutionary social movements and examined how graphic design is a tool for organizing and inspiring people to act.

“It’s been a whirlwind,” said Assistant Professor of Art Stacy Asher. “It’s been very exciting. I enjoyed seeing our students active and engaged with the work.”

Clay Club's annual sale is Dec. 11-12

Lincoln, Neb.--You may think that the most time-consuming degrees available at UNL involve the future doctors and lawyers of the world. However, take a walk by Woods and Richards Hall, any time of the day or night, and you will never cease to find student artists working around the clock. Whether witnessed by the gleaming lights shining from the various studios or by the warm orange glow of the ceramic kilns just outside Richards Hall, the students of the Department of Art and Art History are always abuzz. The 35 dedicated students of the UNL Clay Club are no exception.

Capstone Exhibition runs Dec. 11-18

Lincoln, Neb.—The Capstone Exhibition opens Friday, Dec. 11 at the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. The exhibition runs through Dec. 18.
 
A closing reception will be held on Friday, Dec. 18 from 5-7 p.m. in the gallery.
 
Gallery hours for the exhibition will be Monday-Friday, 12:30-4:30 p.m. There will be extended hours in conjunction with the Clay Club Sale on Friday, Dec. 11 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

UNL Symphony Orchestra performance coming up on Sunday, Dec. 13

LINCOLN, Neb.— The Glenn Korff School of Music UNL Symphony Orchestra program on Sunday, December 13 at 3 p.m. includes the Symphony No. 2 in B minor by Alexander Borodin, Pavane by Gabriel Faure, the Pavane for a Dead Princess by Maurice Ravel, and the Carmen Suite No. 1 by Georges Bizet. Conducting will be Tyler White, UNL Director of Orchestras and graduate associate conductors Aaron Beaver, Anna-Maria Gkouni, and David Galant.

Prescott Gallery exhibition features UNL students, faculty, staff

Lincoln, Neb.--Prescott Gallery's newest exhibition, "Currents," an exhibition of artwork by students, faculty and staff at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, opens Dec. 4. Artwork in many styles, sizes and prices will be available for buyers to purchase and take home the same day. 

Participating faculty and staff artists include:  Christy Aggens, Byron Anway, Margaret Bohls, Mark Cole, Andrea Maack, Alison Rash, Jesse Ross (Clementine Porcelain) and Amy Smith.
