UNL Percussion Ensemble presents a night of ‘Water’ music

Concordia String Trio’s performance coming up on February 23
LINCOLN, Neb.— Come hear members of the Concordia String Trio -- Marcia Henry Liebenow (violin), Leslie Perna (viola) and Karen Becker (cello) -- on February 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Westbrook Recital Hall at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Muisc. They will perform music by Viennese romantic composers Richard Von Perger and Julius Zellner, and American Pulitzer Prize-winner John Harbison.
This is the last stop in a seven-concert tour throughout Missouri, Illinois, and Nebraska.

Studio Potter Steven Rolf is next Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist
Lincoln, Neb.--Studio Potter Steven Rolf will present the next lecture of the Hixson-Lied Visiting Artists & Scholars Lecture Series on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 5:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 15 on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln city campus. The lecture is free and open to the public.Rolf lives and works as a studio potter in River Falls, Wisconsin, creating one-of-a-kind functional pots. His work reflects an ongoing search to unite his ideas with the generosity and the intimacy that the functional pot offers.

Long-time UNL music educator Schneider passes away
We are saddened to hear about the passing of Denny Schneider earlier this week. Professor Dennis Schneider came to the University of Nebraska Glenn Korff School of Music in 1961 as instructor of brass instruments after three years as band director in the Falls City, Nebraska, Public Schools. He retired from UNL in 1997 as full professor. A graduate of Lincoln High School, Schneider received his bachelor of music in education from the University of Nebraska and his master of music in education from Indiana University.

Theatrix presents the New Artists Festival
Lincoln, Neb.--Theatrix, the student run theatre company within the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film, will begin its spring season with the New Artists Festival, which will feature three plays written by student playwrights as well as an art gallery featuring art students’ work.Trey Martinez, a junior in both theatre performance and directing/management, will direct junior Matt Knight’s short play "Cat's Got Your Tongue," a play that features a talking cat with a large personality and a very funny, yet very confused owner.

Bailey’s performance to be rescheduled for later in spring semester
LINCOLN, Neb.— Due to the snowstorm and the cancellation of classes at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, tonight’s John Bailey performance, scheduled in the Glenn Korff School of Music’s Kimball Recital Hall, will not take place. The performance will be rescheduled for later in this spring semester. No date has yet been set.
