Daily's composition a finalist for Van Galen Composition Prize
The composition “Brass Quintet" by Glenn Korff School of Music Lecturer Nels Drue Daily will be performed by the River Falls Brass on Oct. 26.His composition is one of only 10 pieces chosen as Finalists out of 77 submissions from composers from eight countries for the Van Galen Composition Prize.
The Van Galen Composition Prize is unique as the audience members will vote for the winning composition after all ten pieces are performed in a public concert at Abbott Hall in River Falls. This is uncommon as usually a panel of composers vote for composition prizes.

Sturm to receive two awards from the International Rabbath Institute
Hans Sturm, associate professor of double bass and jazz studies and area head for strings, will be traveling to Paris in December to receive two international awards from the International Rabbath Institute, one for teaching and one for performing.Sturm will receive the Prize and Diploma for Performance Excellence and the Prize and Diploma of Professor from the institute, which is founded by noted bassist François Rabbath.

Chamber Singers to perform ‘Blessings of Blue’ at Sheldon

Special screening of 'My Friend Norman' Oct. 31
Lincoln, Neb.--Norman A. Geske died Sept. 6, 2014. He would have been 99 years old on Oct. 31.In honor of Norman Geske and his 99th birthday, the Ross Media Arts Center will host a return performance of Laurie Richards’ film, MY FRIEND, NORMAN: THE MAN FROM ABERDEEN.
The Friday, Oct. 31 7 p.m. screening is free and open to the public.

Two ensembles take to Kimball stage for one amazing night
LINCOLN, Neb.— Two Glenn Korff School of Music ensembles join for one amazing night of music when the UNL Graduate Jazz5tet and the UNL Big Band take to the Kimball Recital Hall stage Tuesday, October 28 at 7:30 p.m.
Join the UNL Graduate Jazz5tet, directed by Dr. Darryl White, for their season premiere concert. The program will feature the music of the great saxophonist and composer, Joe Henderson. Selections will include Serenity, Jinrikisha, Shade of Jade, Recorda-Me, Inner Urge and others.

October exhibition features the work of Master of Fine Arts students
