Campus Orchestra to perform its first concert
LINCOLN, Neb.— The first-ever University of Nebraska-Lincoln Campus Orchestra performance will take place December 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.
The fledgling orchestra is in its first term in the Glenn Korff School of Music. This ensemble does not require an audition and is open to string playing university students from all across the campus. The overseeing faculty member is Dr. Tyler White.

UNL Percussion Ensemble preps for December performance
LINCOLN, Neb.— The UNL Percussion Ensemble in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music presents its Fall 2014 concert with staples of the repertoire by Varese, Reich, and Thierry de Mey on December 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.
The program will also include Jake Remington’s tour de force for percussion orchestra Prelude to Paradise and regional premieres of Mechanical Ballet by Anders Coppel and tilted spheres by Dave Hall.
Cost is General Admission $5; Student/Seniors $3.

Sax Ensembles Concert celebrates the birth of the saxophone
Lincoln, Neb.--The Saxophone Ensembles Concert on Wednesday, Dec. 3 will pay homage to Adolphe Sax, celebrating the bicentennial of the life of the Belgian man credited with inventing the saxophone.“In tribute to him, our concert will feature the saxophone in a way the typical concert-goer would never expect, showing the full capabilities of the instrument he created,” said Nick May, a junior Bachelor of Music student from Lincoln, who studies with Associate Professor of Saxophone Paul Haar.

Art junior creates public arts project for Ponca Tribe of Nebraska
Lincoln, Neb.--Rikki Neumann, a junior art major from Lincoln, Nebraska, has created a mural for Osni Ponca, L.L.C., the economic development company owned by the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska, as a public arts project and class project for her Self as Subject art class.The class is about self discovery through art, and each student gets to express something about themselves in a way they have never done before using whatever is their medium or emphasis.
Neumann’s mural, located at 28th and O sts. in Lincoln, is 7 ½ by 50 feet.

Schaefer returns to UNL for Alumni Masters Week
The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing will host Dawn Schaefer (M.FA. 1999), executive art director for CBS, for the Nebraska Alumni Association’s Alumni Masters Week, Nov. 19-22.
Each fall, outstanding alumni return to campus to share their experiences and knowledge with students. 2014 marks the 50th annual Alumni Masters Week, which is sponsored by the Nebraska Alumni Association, Scarlet Guard and the UNL Chancellor’s Office.

WET INK -- Two nights of composition premieres upcoming at UNL
LINCOLN, Neb.— The Composition program at the Glenn Korff School of music presents it’s WET INK concert series for the Fall 2014 semester. This two evening concert series features an especially varied and rich set of premieres from the student composers of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
The concerts will take place in the Westbrook Recital Hall on Monday, November 24, and Tuesday, November 25 at 7.30 pm. each night. It’s free and open to the public.

'Making History' exhibition opens Dec. 1
Lincoln, Neb.--Assistant Professor of Art Margaret Bohls’ special topics class “Making History” is giving ceramics students the chance to study the vast history of ceramics by recreating historical objects that will be displayed in an exhibition at the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in December.“Making History,” showcasing the work of the Making History ceramics class, will be on display from Dec. 1-5 in the gallery. A closing reception will be held on Friday, Dec. 5 from 5-7 p.m. in the gallery.

Borden elected to board of Association for Hispanic Classical Theatre
Assistant Professor of Theatre Ian Borden has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Association for Hispanic Classical Theatre (AHCT).
The AHCT is a non-profit organization that began in 1984 to promote and foster greater appreciation for Spain’s classical drama in production. An international organization, the Association counts among its members literary scholars, theatrical directors and producers, teachers, and other aficionados of Spain’s Golden Age of Theater

Day's firm one of eight envisioning a future for East Lansing
University of Nebraska–Lincoln Professor of Architecture Jeff Day’s architecture firm Min|Day is one of eight firms that were invited to envision a future for East Lansing, Michigan. Their work is part of an exhibition that opens Friday, Nov. 14 at the Broad Art Museum in East Lansing.
“East Lansing 2030: Collegeville Re-Envisioned” will run through April 26, 2015, at the Broad Art Museum, which is the contemporary art museum of Michigan State University.
