Chiara plays "The American" in Hixson-Lied Concert
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln School of Music presents the Chiara String Quartet in the next Hixson-Lied Concert Series on Monday, Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall on the UNL city campus.
Tickets are $20 adults, $10 seniors and $5 students and available at the Lied Center for Performing Arts Box Office at (402) 472-4747 or at the door.
The Nov. 19 concert program includes Mozart’s String Quartet in C Major, K. 465, “The Dissonance;” Lutoslawski’s String Quartet; and Dvorak’s String Quartet in F Major, Op. 96, “The American.”

College seeks Young Artist Award applications
The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln seeks applications for the 16th annual Nebraska Young Artist Awards.
The Nebraska Young Artist Awards annually recognize 11th-grade students from Nebraska who are gifted and talented in the areas of visual art, dance, music, theatre, and film and new media. These students exemplify the pinnacles of creativity in one of the fine and performing arts.

Susanne Grieve presents AIA lecture on Antarctic
Susanne Grieve, from the Antarctic Heritage Trust and Director of Conservation for the Program in Maritime Studies in the history department of East Carolina University, will present the next Archaeological Institute of America public lecture on Monday, Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Richards Hall room 15 on the UNL city campus. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Matters of civil discourse flow in "Paragon Springs"

School of Music opera presents "O Pioneers!"
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln School of Music’s Opera program brings Willa Cather’s timeless novel of life on the Nebraska prairie to the Kimball Hall stage this November with the premiere of the newly revised opera “O Pioneers!” by UNL Professor of Composition and Director of Orchestras Tyler White.
The opera, which originally premiered at UNL in 1999, returns in a revised version with performances on Friday, Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m.

Printmaker Robyn O'Neil in residence Oct. 22-26
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Department of Art and Art History announce the visit of artist Robyn O'Neil. Robyn O'Neil will be in residence the week of October 22-26 in the printmaking studio to create an edition for the Under Pressure Print Club, with students and faculty assisting with the printing.
She will give a public lecture on Thursday, October 25 at 5:00 p.m. in Richards Hall, room 15, with a reception and printing demonstration following in Woods Hall, room 303.

Souto's new work on display at Kiechel Fine Arts
“Ecos de la Memoria (Memory Echoes),” an exhibition featuring new work by University of Nebraska–Lincoln Associate Professor of Art Francisco Souto, will be on display at Kiechel Fine Art in Lincoln from Oct. 19 through Nov. 23.
An opening reception will be held on Friday, Oct. 19 from 6-8 p.m.
“Ecos de la Memoria” is an exhibition structured around a sensorial trajectory rather than organized by media or chronology.

“African Art in Unlikely Places" exhibition opens
African Art in Unlikely Places: The David Rapkin Collection” opens Oct. 19 and runs through Nov. 9 at the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
An opening reception will be held on First Friday, Nov. 2 from 5-7 p.m. in the Gallery. A gallery talk with Rapkin will take place at 6 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.
